Franklyn was purchased privately on the back of his outstanding growth, width and muscling. On top of his eye-catching physical attributes, his EBVs and pedigree are equally as impressive. Breed leader for 200 day weight, he is also ranked in the top 1% for 400 + 600 day weights, carcass weight, fat depth, IMF%, Terminal Production Index and Self Replacing Index at 114 and 116. Both Eye Muscle Area and Milk yield are also in the top 5%. His pedigree is full of show winners, not least his sire Sowenna Aristrocrat, whom lifted the breeds supreme champion at the Royal Highland show in 2013. His dam Skerrington Rhona 32nd was Scottish National Champion and Reserve Female Champion at the RHS in 2015, while his grand-dam Skerrington Rhona 21st was also RHS breed champion in 2012. Franklyn will produce heavy, muscular, easily fleshed progeny, ideal for commercial or pedigree use, and daughters will make excellent cows.
